I’m a SUCKER for a good romance. Preferably a good regency era romance. When picture this time period I always think of that one scene in Pride and Prejudice when Kitty runs into the room to the window and spits out, “He’s here, he’s here. He’s at the door….MR. BINGLEY.”
And everyone whips into a frenzy trying to look natural. I love to obnoxiously quote that line to my sisters.
(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I went to the trouble of finding a clip for you here)
So when my sisters Lindsay and Abby told me I HAD to read Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson, I got a copy from the library and got to WERK.
I’d read “Edenbrooke” a couple years ago and it was a little too cheesy McCheese for me, so I was pleasantly surprised to totally get into this follow up novel! Her knight in shining armor had me singing “Oh, Henry” by The Civil Wars nonstop until I finished the book…Henry is JUST DARLING OK.
I also picked up An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter at the library from the same section, read it, LOVED IT, and then realized it was the last book in the series.
A tragic mistake.
So I’ve since gone back and read the rest of them and heavens, what a blessing they are! It’s been a long time since I’ve really enjoyed a book that’s not from the self help or personal growth genres (can you tell how serious and adult and not McCheesy I try to be these days), and I can honestly say this series was so refreshing and sweet. Each novel is about a different member of the same family, and I feel like Kristi Ann Hunter really captured their family dynamics in such a realistic way. It also doesn’t hurt that she based Griffith off of Chris Hemsworth because HEYO. Veeeerrry easy to imagine.
So you don’t make the same blunder, here are books in the Hawthorne House Series in order:
And THEN An Inconvenient Beauty

Happy reading!
I love Pride and Prejudice too but I have never heard of the books you mentioned above! Time to give them a try… This month I`ve re-read the Harry Potter books BUT for the first time in English! That was fun! Other from that, my favourite author is actually Siri Hustvedt…have you heard of her? My favourite book of her is “What I loved” 🙂
You must read them, Jassi! You’d love them! And I’ve never heard of that author- I’m excited to look her up!
