Look what finally arrived!🤩 As I flipped throu Look what finally arrived!🤩 As I flipped through these paperbacks, I was swept back to the memories I made while writing Home Run Heart. Chapter 1 was written on a red-eye flight to Munich. Chapter 20 was written in the notes app on my phone in a camping trailer in Jackson Hole. Chapter 23 (the night sea swim…my personal favorite chapter in the book) was written at my kitchen table and I’ll never forget how healing it was for me to write that scene. Today marks four years since we lost my Grandpa Ba Today marks four years since we lost my Grandpa Bagby. He absolutely loved baseball and never missed a Dodgers game. When I was in high school, he had season tickets and would always take a couple of us grandkids with him. I loved eating Dodger dogs and cheering on his favorite team and arguing with my sisters over which player in the lineup was the hottest. I was never an athlete and didn’t really get what was going on down on the field but always had a blast anyway. For me, baseball is associated with happy memories with my Grandpa and I know he would have been so proud of Home Run Heart! I do think it’s fitting (and maybe not coincidence?! Is he pulling strings up there in heaven? lol) that the Dodgers are playing in the World Series this weekend. They’d better win it for you, Grandpa! ⚾️💙

As someone who struggles with anxiety, sometimes I As someone who struggles with anxiety, sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough as an author, as a mom, and really in life in general. But what I’ve come to realize is that there is always MORE that I could be doing, but more does not always equate to BETTER. This thought has continually come to my mind when I feel like I’m falling short: You have time. You don’t have to have or do it all right now. Despite what social media may invite you to believe, nobody’s got it all figured out. There’s no need to feel rushed or pressured into reading more, writing more, posting more, or creating more, because I’ve found that doing so usually leads to burnout. So instead, let me remind you that you’ve got time. Plenty of it. And you can savor and sip it as slowly and with as much intention as you like.
