HOLA CHICOS!
Cayden and I just got back from a week in Mexico, hence my greeting. It has been well over a year since I did a friday favorites post! It’s about time.
It was my first time visiting Mexico and we absolutely loved it! Cayden spent two years serving as a missionary for our church in Paraguay, so he is fluent in Spanish. I learned lots of new words while listening to him speak in his second language all day every day…my favorites being “LISTO?!” (what our guides said constantly during our excursions) and “tortuga” because we snorkeled with sea turtles every morning. Sea turtles and Jack Sparrow are my spirit animals so I found that fitting.
I bought this $27 dress for the trip and it was perfect for our travel days and for throwing on top of my swimsuit. I’ve also been wearing these Teva sandals non-stop. I own several pairs of Tevas but these are by far my favorite!
This white dress has the most poofy poofed sleeves that remind me of Anne of Green Gables and I feel like a marshmallow cloud princess wearing it.
Music:
I can’t stop listening to Lizzie McAlpine’s Give Me A Minute album. Her voice…her writing…the background vocal arrangements…the production. Favorite album I’ve heard in a while! Plus I love eating pancakes for dinner so I think we’d be friends.
I also have to mention Blue Heron Suite by Sarah Jarosz. A masterpiece from start to finish!
I updated my listening lately playlist with my favorite songs from these albums and a few more if you’d like to check that out.

Summer Bounty:
We joined a CSA (community supported agriculture) for the first time this summer. Once a week we pick up fresh produce from a farm down the road, and I can honestly say that every fresh veggie and fruit we’ve tried has been some of the best we’ve ever had! What Alice Waters said is so true: “When you have the best and tastiest ingredients, you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary because it tastes like what it is.”
I will say that it’s been challenging for me (in a good way) to figure out how to use up all of the produce each week so nothing goes to waste! A few favorite recipes we’ve tried are these beet brownies (left out the buttermilk and browned the butter), this sweet corn and zucchini pie, and this strawberry rhubarb crisp.
I hope you’re enjoying the warm summer nights, fresh peaches, and time spent in the water as much as we are!
